ABOUTUS
DEMSMEDA was established by law on the 20th of October, 2014. The Agency coordinates and promotes the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Delta State. Our focus is on entrepreneurship development and management, encourage and support extension and financial services to MSMEs without prejudice.
We coordinate and collaborate with other Governmental agencies, develop partnership with stakeholders in MSMEs development to ensure synergy and effective implementation of programs.
Monitoring & Evaluation: We monitor and evaluate the impact of our program and interventions on MSMEs to access the effectiveness and identify areas of improvement.
Market Access: We enable MSMEs access local and international markets through market linkages, trade fairs, exhibitions and other promotional activities.
Research and Development: We conduct research and development activities to generate data and information relevant to MSMEs development, which informs policy formulation and program implementation.
MSMEs Promotion: We promote MSMEs culture and encourage the establishment and growth of MSMEs across various sectors of the state economy.
COMPOSITION OF THE AGENCY
The DEMSMEDA is made up of a board and management team saddled with different roles in conformity with the law that established the Agency
THE BOARD
The board is made of seasoned personalities experienced in divers’ areas of accomplishment in human endeavor and is made of the Chairman, Executive Secretary and three other members representing each of the three senatorial districts of Delta State. According to the law, there are other ex-Official members not below the rank of director to represent the ministries of Trade & Investment, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Finance, Economic Planning, Justice, Youth Affairs and nominee each of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), National Association of Micro Finance Banks, Delta State Chapter and the Small & Medium Enterprises Development Agency(SMEDAN).The Executive Secretary runs and manages the agency on day to day basis generate and implement programs approved by the board.

- Dr. Godwin Adolor, Executive Secretary/CEO. A banker, Financial Expert, Lawyer and entrepreneur is the Executive Secretary/CEO. He holds the following educational & professional certifications: B.Sc (Accounting), LLB, BL, M.Sc (Banking & Finance), Ph.D (Finance), MICM, CNA, ACTI, FIMC,FCIB. He is responsible for the day to day activities of the Agency.
- Mr. Emmanuel Atube, Director Administration. He has a vast experience in administration and management.He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English & Literature from the University of Benin. He oversees General Administration and Personnel management of the Agency.
- Mr. Robinson Ufuoma Akpwerhen, Director, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). He has vast experience creating programs for development of MSMEs. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. He is in charge of MSMEs activities in each program of the Agency.
- Mrs. Grace Isioma Egbuniwe. Director of Planning, Research and Statistics. Highly experienced in the field of planning and research. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Ambrose Ali University Ekpoma, Edo State and Master of Public Administration. She is in charge of the Planning, Research and Statistics Department of the Agency.
- Maureen Okpara. Director of Marketing & Collaboration. She has vast experience in promotion, bridge building for MSMEs and their linkage for external support as well as managing programs of the Agency. She holds a
Bachelor Degree in Economics from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. She is in charge of providing market linkage, development, capacity building on marketing as well as facilitating access to domestic and international Trade and Business financing for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises
- Gloria Oghenevwaire Akpovi.Chief Accountant. She has vast experience in financial management. She holds a HND and a Certified National Accountant(CNA), Associate Member Association of National Accountants of Nigeria(ANAN). She is in charge of managing the financial resources and accounts of the Agency.
DEMSMEDA CORE MANDATE:
The Agency amongst others has the following objective/mandate
- To co-ordinate and promote the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the State.
- To facilitate strategic agricultural financing programmes for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the State.
- To facilitate, encourage and support the extension of financial services to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the State, and help provide guarantees for Micro credits, small and medium enterprises financing.
- To put in focus at all times MSME and to ensure they maximally benefit from grants, loans or capacity building program, advisory consultancy services offered by the state, the Federal Government or its agencies or other donor agencies.
- To enter into partnership with participating financial institutions to facilitate the access to loans by the micro, small and medium enterprises at minimal rates of interest through simplified processes.
- Promoting and providing access to industrial infrastructure, including estates, layouts and incubators.
- Providing and facilitating technical and managerial training to micro, small and medium enterprises owners and managers to sources of finance, technology, technical skills development and management.
- Facilitating and promoting the development of standard designs and quality assurance for machinery and equipment, and commercializing them to end-users.
- Liaising with Federal Government agencies and external agencies for support and development of micro, small and medium enterprises in Nigeria
- Providing necessary information and assistance to micro, small and medium enterprises in the marketing of their products.
- Encouraging and promoting strategic linkages within micro, small and medium enterprises and between micro, small and medium enterprises and large scale industries.
- Listing products that micro, small and medium scale enterprises have substantial internal capacities to manufacture to meet domestic market.
- Enter into partnership with Micro Finance institutions with a view to carrying out its functions and attaining the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises in the state.
- Establishing liaison between research institutes, local fabricators and micro, small and medium enterprises.
- Collaborating with the Agricultural Research and Mechanization Centres and Agro-industrial schemes in Nigeria.
- Establishing and coordinating the activities of Industrial Development Centres in the State.
- Promoting ancillaritsation, sub-contracting, clustering and networking relationship.
- Carrying out such other activities connected with or incidental to the other functions of the Agency in order to promote government policies in the development of micro, small and medium enterprises.
